IBVA measures EEG from the anterior of the frontal
lobes called the pre frontal cortex ; involved in planning, organizing,
problem solving, selective attention, personality and a variety of "higher
cognitive functions" including behavior and emotions.
* Motor Functions
* Higher Order Functions
* Planning
* Reasoning
* Judgement
* Impulse Control
* Memory
There are important asymmetrical differences in the frontal
lobes. The left frontal lobe is involved in controlling language related
movement, whereas the right frontal lobe plays a role in non-verbal
abilities. Some researchers emphasize that this rule is not absolute
and that with many people, both lobes are involved in nearly all behavior.
Frontal lobes have been found to play a part in impulse control, judgement,
language, memory, motor function, problem solving, sexual behavior,
socialization and spontaneity. Frontal lobes assist in planning, coordinating,
controlling and executing behaviour.
Books for Brainwave biofeedback explorers
It is most important you are familiar with fundamental EEG techniques
and neurofeedback analysis - here are some books I highly recommend
as a primer:
* Getting Started with Neurofeedback
- John M Demos
* The High Performance mind - Anna Wise
* Mind wide open - Steven Johnson
* MegaBrain - Michael Hutchinson
